Clothes You Should Throw Out Of Your Wardrobe

Cameron Diaz admits being a spendthrift and spending tons of money on trendy clothing. She says it's the process of buying that makes her happy not the purchase itself. She rarely remembers what she had bought last time.

We tend to change our style and appearance from time to time and therefore we collect too many useless clothes in our wardrobes. That is why it is important to revise our clothing once in a while and get rid of clothes that we haven't worn for years.

From time to time you have to revise the contents of the wardrobe which is literally crammed with different stuff. There are obviously lots of unnecessary things that are willing to be thrown away but you cannot make up your mind and decide what exactly should be ejected?
There are a few categories of things which you can throw away from your wardrobe without any regrets.
Defected clothes

Torn, moth-eaten, stretched, shrunk after washing clothes… In a word: everything that has lost its livable state. If there is one particular item that you cannot part with you can move it to some other place or use it only when you have to clean your house or do any other dirty work.
Out of fashion

Of course I don’t mean so called “vintage clothes”. Your grandmother’s wedding dress may come in handy sometime… maybe. But you obviously don’t need a cheap blouse that you had bought ten years ago in a sale. Some coats and jackets go out of fashion very quickly. It may still look quite good but if popular verdict is important for you you’d better get rid of such item.

Small clothes

Lots of people store them in their wardrobes hoping to lose weight someday. But in real life, that particular item would go out of fashion by the time you lost extra weight. That’s why you should get rid of them immediately.
Clothes that don’t suit you

Sometime we spontaneously buy unnecessary things and clothes or get them as a present. Isn’t it just a waste of space?

    Clothes that you don’t wear

This silk shirt or that plaid skirt looks good but you have absolutely no desire to wear it. Or your favourite handmade sweater that you’re so proud of but afraid to wear in public. One of my good friends has a very wise rule: if something has been collecting dust in her wardrobe for two years she immediately gets rid of it.

     Worn-once-in-a-lifetime-clothes

Such as a prom dress. You have worn it only once and don’t know when you are going to wear it next time. Besides it looks too specific: odd fashion and too many tinsels. Of course you can leave it in your wardrobe to collect dust hoping that someday it will come in handy.

Identical clothes

Every woman has a couple of identical shirts or jeans in her wardrobe. Why would you ever need two absolutely identical black blouses? Or two red shirts. Remember, it's just a waste of space in your wardrobe. Isn’t it better to get rid of them?

Saying “get rid” I don’t mean “throw away”. Though, if some particular item is absolutely worthless you can throw it away with a clear conscience.
Off-size but unworn clothes may suit perfectly one of your relatives, friends, neighbours, etc. You can collect all the unnecessary clothes and give them to the charitable organization. Believe me, there is always someone who is in need of clothes. “Second-hand” can sometimes be in demand.

Special category – baby and children’s clothing

If you or your children had grown out of some clothes there is no use in keeping them. If babies will ever appear in your life again it would be better to buy new clothing for them. It’s better to give those things to someone who is really in need of them; someone who has children and doesn’t have enough money to buy clothes. If you don’t know such people you can give all the unnecessary things to charity or try to sell them. One of my friends has made quite a sum of money after selling her son’s old clothes.
You can also run an advertisement for used but not very worn clothes. Some of the clothes you can give to the theatre, school drama circle or any other institution where stage costumes are needed (by the way, drama circle may be a perfect place for your prom dress).

And the final variant: you can try to undo some clothes and make something new out of it. Display your creativity!

Your wardrobe must contain only those things that you wear from time to time. Only then it will never be crammed.
