Interesting Fact! Meryl Streep originally applied to Law School but slept in on the morning of her interview and took it as a sign she was destined for other things.
1. Be
better than you were yesterday
Stop comparing yourself to somebody else. The only person in the
world that is worth competing with is yourself. Each of us has its
own destiny and its foolish trying to attain to somebody’s level of
the best. Today is the day to become better than you were
yesterday.
2. Do
something that inspires you
Stop
doing things that depress you. This is your only life (ok, you can
believe in reincarnation, but just in case if it is indeed your one
and only life on the Earth don’t you think it’s stupid to waste
it on something boring and useless?)
3. Give
10% of your attention to the problem and 90% to its solving
Worrying
about the problem won’t help you to solve it. Stop running around
in panic and take action.
4. Do
your job on the highest level
The
way you do your job represents you as a person. It describes your
character much better than your appearance and behaviour.
5. Compliment
others especially when they are in need of praise
Don’t
be shy to accentuate people’s qualities. Everybody wants to be
appreciated. Besides, it will cost you nothing but will definitely
make you more attractive for people.
6. Train
yourself daily to become a real virtuoso in your craft
No
matter what goal you may have (writing a book, become a rock-star,
travel around the globe) try to do at least something in a direction
of your dream: write a couple of new lines, play a couple of new
chords, buy a map after all!
7.
Work hard and don’t look for excuses
If
you really set your mind on something you will always find time and
opportunities to fulfill you dream. You are a grown-up and I suppose
you know that there are no Santa Claus and Tooth Fairies. You are the
only one responsible for your life.
8. Learn
to get up after you fall
Everybody
makes mistakes from time to time and you are not an exception. Learn
a lesson from your mistake and move on. Remember
"It doesn't matter how many times you fall but how many times
you rise up".
9.
Keep your promises given not only to other but to yourself
It
takes only one broken promise to establish a reputation of an
unreliable person. It’s funny how we try to fulfill promises given
to our friends, relatives, colleagues but fail to do that for
ourselves.
10.
Display generosity especially in times of hardships
It’s
easy to be generous when it’s not really necessary. But are you
ready to confirm your generosity when somebody needs it for real?
11.
Always try to surpass expectation
There
are lots of people who are really good on their mediocre level. Being
something better than good will raise you above the crowd.
12.
Pay
daily attention to recovery of your mental and physical strength
In
the long-run pursuit of your dream you may easily forget about your
physical and mental health which can eventually hamper you and become
an obstacle in your way. If you don’t take care of yourself than
who will?
13. Let
your house and home be a solid foundation of your success
You
need a place to recover and there’s no place like home. Let it be
your impregnable fortress which protects you from the outer world.
14. Find
time for physical activity
Sport
strengthens your spirit and teaches you to win. But what is most
important it teaches you to loose with dignity and move
on.
15. Inspire
others to be better than they were yesterday
Be
an inspiration and example for other people. It may be a huge
responsibility but it also brings a huge reward.
